Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located, and what areas do you serve?

I am a boutique portrait photographer based in Concord, North Carolina. I serve families in Concord, Kannapolis, Harrisburg, and the greater Charlotte area, including Davidson, Huntersville, Mooresville, and the Lake Norman community.

What type of photography do you specialize in?

I specialize in custom family, newborn, maternity, and children’s portraits, with a calm, guided experience. I also welcome pets as part of your session when it fits your family’s story. My work is designed to help busy moms of littles go from “We really need to do this” to finished heirloom artwork you can enjoy every day.

What makes your experience different from a typical photographer?

My sessions are fully customized and intentionally planned. We start with a planning consultation so we are photographing with purpose, not guessing or rushing. During your session, I guide you with a clear plan and a calm approach, then I help you choose what you love most and turn it into finished wall art and albums. You are not left with a folder of files and a to-do list.

Do you offer mini sessions?

No. I do not offer mini sessions or quick, one-size-fits-all sessions. My clients choose me because they want a relaxed experience, personal guidance, and finished artwork that fits their home and their story.

Do you offer digital files?

Yes. While my focus is on creating printed heirloom pieces first, because that is what gets enjoyed daily and becomes part of your family’s legacy, you will also receive the companion digital file of images you purchase all ready to share with family and friends on social media.

What is the session fee, and what does it include?

Because every family’s needs are different, I keep the details personal and tailored to you. After we talk through what you are looking for and what you want to create for your home, I will guide you toward options that fit your space and your comfort level.

All of my sessions include a planning consultation, a fully customized portrait experience, and a guided design and ordering appointment where you will choose your favorite images and decide how you want to enjoy them as finished artwork.

What do clients typically invest?

Most of my clients are looking for a full-service, boutique experience and finished heirloom pieces for their home. After a consultation, I will recommend options based on what you love, what you want on your walls, and what feels comfortable for your family.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Payment plans are available and are customized to each client. During your consultation and ordering appointment, I will guide you through options that feel clear and manageable.

How long is a session?

There is no strict time limit. We go into your session with a plan, and I guide you through it in a calm way, especially when little ones are involved. The goal is an efficient, well-planned experience that never feels rushed.

When is the best time for outdoor family portraits?

For outdoor portraits, I typically recommend golden hour, the soft light near sunset. It is flattering, calm, and gives us that warm, timeless look.

Do you help choose the location for our session?

Yes. I help you choose a location that fits your family and the look you love, including private locations that have meaning to you. When needed, I also check the location ahead of time to watch for changes that could affect your session, like construction, closures, crowds, or seasonal shifts in the landscape, like whether flowers are in bloom, fields have been mowed, or greenery has changed.

What happens if the weather is bad for an outdoor session?

If we are planning an outdoor session, I typically reserve a primary date and a backup date. That way we can make a confident call based on the weather and still protect the experience.

Do you photograph in a studio or outdoors?

Both. Newborn, children, and pet portraits can be photographed in my home studio in Concord or in your home, and I can also rent studio space when a client’s needs call for it. Family portraits can be photographed outdoors as well. During planning, we will choose the option that fits your family and the look you love.

Do you offer in-home newborn sessions?

Yes. Many of my clients choose to photograph their newborn portraits at home. I bring a portable newborn studio setup so you can have a studio-style experience in the comfort of your own home, and we can also include more lifestyle images if you love that natural, at-home feel. I will guide you on how to prepare so everything feels simple, calm, and supported.

When should I book a newborn session?

The best time to reach out is during your second trimester if you can. That gives us time to plan and reserve space on the calendar, then we adjust the exact date once your baby arrives.

What if my toddler will not cooperate?

You are not alone. I work with little ones all the time, and my approach is gentle and child-led. I guide you with simple prompts and connection-focused games that help kids relax and enjoy the experience, so we can capture natural expressions without stiff posing. We also move at a pace that helps your child feel safe, seen, and successful.

And yes, I have a little treasure chest at the end so they can pick a small prize, which gives them something fun to look forward to.

Can grandparents be included in our family portraits?

Yes. Grandparents are absolutely welcome. During your planning consultation, we will talk through who you would like included in your portraits, including grandparents and pets.

Can we include our dog or other pets?

Yes. Pets are welcome when it fits your family’s story. We will plan for it ahead of time so the session feels calm and set up for success.

Do you provide professional hair and makeup?

Yes, if you would like it. I can recommend a hair and makeup artist I trust, and we can coordinate that as part of your planning.

Do you retouch images?

Yes. I retouch your final images with a natural, polished approach so you look like yourself on your best day. My goal is a timeless finish that will still feel beautiful and true to you 20 years from now. I do not use heavy filters or trendy editing techniques. Instead, I focus on clean color, flattering light, and gentle refinements that keep skin and details looking natural.

What should we wear for our session?

I will help you choose outfits that photograph beautifully and feel like you. I recommend pieces that are comfortable and true to your style, with colors that coordinate without matching exactly. Simple patterns and soft, neutral tones photograph beautifully, but the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident.

What happens after the session?

After your session, we schedule an in-person ordering appointment. This is where the experience becomes a little like home styling mixed with photography. You will see your images in a beautiful presentation, and I will help you choose favorites and design artwork that fits your home and your walls.

What is an in-person ordering appointment?

It is a guided design and selection appointment where you choose the images you love most and decide how you want to enjoy them in your home. I can also create wall art mockups using photos of your actual space so you feel confident in what you are choosing.

Do you help with wall art design and sizing?

Yes. I guide you through the design process and make recommendations based on your walls and your style, then I let you see exactly what it will look like. This takes the guesswork out and makes decisions feel simple.

Do you handle printing and framing?

Yes. I handle production through professional labs and a trusted local framer. When your artwork is ready, I deliver it finished, with hardware, ready to hang.

How long does it take to receive my finished artwork?

Most wall art is delivered about 6 to 8 weeks after your ordering appointment. Albums typically take longer, and I will keep you updated along the way.

If timing is important and you have a firm deadline, let me know early. In many cases I can work with you, especially for needs like birth announcements, graduation announcements, or time-sensitive gifts. We will talk through your timeline during the planning consultation before your session so we can create a clear plan and set expectations from the start.

Do you photograph extended family sessions?

Yes. I photograph extended family portraits. To make the experience feel calm and organized, I plan ahead with each individual family unit within the larger group. Each family gets guidance before the session, and each family has their own ordering appointment so everyone gets exactly what they want from the experience.

Do you offer weekday or weekend sessions?

Yes. Weekday sessions are available during the day and in the evening. Weekend sessions are limited and are reserved as premium spots.

Is your process a good fit for children or adults with special needs?

Yes. My process is designed to be calm, flexible, and supportive. Because I do not schedule sessions and appointments back to back, I can cater to your family’s needs and create an experience that feels steady and unhurried.

How do I get started?

The best first step is to reach out through my contact form so I can learn about your family and what you are hoping for. From there, we will schedule a consultation and create a plan that feels calm and clear.
